Close to 15,000 people attended the three-day Global Birdfair in Rutland, England in July and we were so honored to be a part of it. Peter gave the keynote lecture “Ocean Nomads: The Albatrosses” to an appreciative crowd of passionate birders. Each day, Peter had the opportunity to give “Author Talks” telling the audience about the making of SEABIRDS: The New Identification Guide. And we were thrilled to have the three authors—Peter Harrison, Martin Perrow, and Hans Larsson—together again to sign copies of the field guide and Conservation Edition. We were also delighted to donate a copy of the Conservation Edition for the silent auction.

This year, the Global Birdfair 2025 supported a conservation project called Safeguarding Ocean Species. This vital project is tackling the threats facing our magnificent seabirds in the southern Pacific by increasing the use of bycatch mitigation measures on longline fishing vessels. The project will reduce killing of species such as the Antipodean Albatross and create greater awareness of this problem on a global scale. We were so pleased to learn that Global BirdFair contributed a record-breaking USD $140,000 to support the project.
