Peter Harrison presents at Port Townsend Marine Science Center “Future of Oceans” Series 3/30/2025
The Future of Oceans lecture series - “Ocean Nomads: The Albatrosses”
Peter was honored to have been selected by the Port Townsend Marine Science Center as a featured speaker in their Future of Oceans lecture series. On Sunday March 30, took the stage at Fort Worden’s Wheeler Theater to present “Ocean Nomads: The Albatrosses.” Largest of all flying birds with lifespans that match those of humans, the 22 albatross species are the most itinerant of all life forms, capable of flying more than 1,000 miles a day and over 8.5 million miles in their lifetimes. I’ll be discussing the fascinating biology of these ocean nomads, what makes an albatross so unique, and why we must act now to protect them and their ocean home.
We are grateful to Diane Quinn, Executive Director of the Port Townsend Marine Science Center, for this wonderful opportunity.
